"The undulating fascia sign refers to the appearance of the fascia between the vastus intermedius and vastus lateralis muscles on T1 sequences of MRI of the proximal lower limbs 1-4. In certain diseased states, these muscles are severely atrophied and infiltrated by fat, resulting in the fascia between them taking an abnormal saggy, wavy or undulating morphology 1-4."
