"The dark bronchus sign is particularly useful when ground glass opacity is diffuse and homogeneous, as in some cases of Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia that may present with a normal or equivocal chest radiograph in the early course of the disease 1,4. The sign has also been reported in diffuse alveolar haemorrhage and other causes of diffuse ground glass opacity 5."
