"MRI brain is the modality of choice for assessment of cortical superficial siderosis 1-3,9. They are defined by Standards for Reporting Vascular Changes on Neuroimaging 2 (STRIVE-2) as thin areas of hypointensity (blooming artifact) seen on susceptibility-sensitive sequences (e.g., GRE, SWI) in or overlying the superficial cortex 9. The morphology is often bicurvilinear, following the contour of cortical gyri, resembling 'tram tracks' 1-3,9. No accompanying hyperintensity in the convexal subarachnoid space on FLAIR is noted, differentiating it from acute convexal subarachnoid haemorrhage. Superficial siderosis should not be reported near an intraparenchimal haemorrhage 11."
